KARACHI: Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar on Monday vowed to touch up different parks across the metropolis, ARY News reported.
“We are working on Hill Park, while parks of different union councils will also be enhanced,” Waseem Akhtar said adding that the local government would soon open Jheel Park after renovation.
He said the local government was also animating Karachi Zoo as well as the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC). Dr Ruth Pfau Hospital had already been renovated, he added.
The mayor Karachi said he would like to put the case of the Sindh government before the federal government.
He said the local government used to get Rs50 million a year on papers and nobody knew where they were spent.
Waseem Akhtar said the residents of Karachi knew abundance of dogs in the city. He said his administration also lacked medicine for rabies.
“We have inherited dogs. One of the main reasons behind increase in number of dogs is garbage in the metropolitan city,” he said.

He sought help of the Sindh government against the diseases spread through dogs.
Last year in December, Waseem Akhtar had held all political parties responsible for widespread encroachments in the port city.
Speaking to media outside the Supreme Court registry of Karachi, Waseem Akhtar had said if political parties were well wishers of the city then there would have been no encroachments in the metropolitan.
“I have put my political career at stake,” the Mayor had claimed, adding that everyone is after looting the city of lights.
