LAHORE: An elderly woman breathed her last at Jinnah Hospital Lahore due to poor medical care, prompting criticism on the authorities for their sheer neglect, ARY News reported.

Zehra Bibi was brought to the hospital at 3.15am due to cardiac-related problem, and the staffers gave woman a drip after about three hours as she was lying on the ground meant for pedestrians.

Apparently paying no heed to the ailing woman’s condition, the hospital staff also refused bed to her, saying all of them were occupied.

Delay in timely treatment deteriorated the woman’s condition. ARY News correspondent tried to approach provincial health adviser Salman Rafique and medical superintendent to bring the issue into their notice, but they declined to speak citing ‘busy schedule due to meetings’.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has usually been seen taking notice of various public-related issues and promptly gives directions for addressing them, but this time he too didn’t respond.
