Samson Motors has designed the world’s first flying sports car, Switchblade, that can travel at a speed of up to 200mph and rise up to 13,000 ft heights. This could be obtained for 90,000 pounds next year.
It can transform from a normal car into an aircraft and back to sports car with the wings safely stowed and protected.
The Switchblade has side-by-side seating for two, room for 50 pounds of luggage (golf clubs, etc.), a wide cabin, and the power-to-weight ratio of a 2017 Corvette.
The Italian-inspired clean shape is designed to produce a down-force in gusty wind conditions, stabilizing the lightweight vehicle on the road.
The wings are set at the correct angle so you literally fly the plane off the runway! Landings are similar, in that you simply fly the vehicle onto the runway to land.
The Switchblade is a three wheel, street legal vehicle that you drive from your garage to a nearby local airport. Once there, the wings swing out and the tail extends in under 3 minutes.
Bryant Boon, actor and airline pilot, said, “The promise of the Switchblade is a quantum leap in personal transportation effectively transforming the mundane experience of A to B travel into the magical freedom of flight.”
California aviation enthusiast, Samson Investor, Marcia Winborne-Graven said, “Having grown up around aviation, I grew to love flying. Even though my late air racer brother Fred Sebby flew the older WWII fighter planes, I know he would have loved the Switchblade because of his extreme love of anything that flew and the fact that it will help put flying within the reach of many more people.”
