Zardari is also expected to meet Chaudhry brothers and will visit the Jamaat Islami headquarters in Lahore.
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Co-chairman reached Nawaz’s Jati Umra residence in a helicopter where the Prime Minister personally received him at the helipad.
The two leaders held the one on one meeting to discuss the ongoing political stalemate caused by the protests led by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) in the federal capital.
According to sources, former president advised Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to observe maximum restraint in dealing with the protests led by the PTI and PAT.
Zardari, visited to the prime minister for the lunch meeting, was flanked by PPP leaders Raza Rabbani, Aitzaz Ahsan and Leader of Opposition in National Assembly Khurshid Shah.
The prime minister was accompanied by Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister Railways Saad Rafique and Frontier Regions Minister Abdul Qadir Baloch.
Asif Ali Zardari also advised the Prime Minister to stop strong worded statements by his ministers. Moreover, a flexible attitude being adopted by the government in talks with the protesting opposition parties.
He also proposed a high level commission to inquire into the Model Town firing incident in Lahore, which claimed 14 lives of PAT workers and around 75 persons were injured in the incident.
Zardari also advised Nawaz Sharif not to tender resignation as premier of the country, sources said.
Prime Minister Sharif had called Zardari yesterday and invited him to luncheon at his Raiwind residence.
