LAHORE: Fourteen people including six women and a child were killed in a tragic road crash in Jhelum on Sunday, ARY News reported.
According to rescue sources, eleven people died on the spot when a car collided with a speeding passenger van coming in the opposite direction causing a pileup of several cars.
The fatal accident occurred in the Pand Mati Khan areas on the G.T. Road.
At least twelve people were also injured in the deadly mishap and it is feared that casualties may increase. The injured have been moved to Tehsil hospital in the area.
Fatal road accidents are common in Pakistan, where traffic rules are rarely enforced and roads in many rural areas are poor. In October last year, at least 30 people were killed in Rahim Yar Khan when two buses collided with each other.
Images from the crash site showed a horrific sight as bus on its side with its windows shattered, and another bus with its roof partly caved in.
