KARACHI: As many as 1900 people from various political parties on Saturday joined the Mustafa Kamal-led Pak Sarzameen Party.
This includes 919 members and office-bearers from the Mutahida Quami Movement – Pakistan (MQM-P), as well the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) and others parties.
PSP chief Mustafa Kamal welcomed them to the party and said that its was historic that a large group of people have joined a young party.
“It is a historic day that such a large number of people have joined a one-and-half year old party. This shows our pace on the track to success,” he said hoping that the new members will work with good intentions.
He said people from various have joined their party, while previous fingers were pointed at them if they joined them. “A few years ago when you spoke freely then they would shoot you,” he in a direct jibe at MQM founder Altaf Hussain who he said could gather thousands of followers overnight but no one even wishes on his birthday now.
Kamal said that the new members have buried
the hatchet keeping their political differences and decades-long association aside to join the PSP. “I have no political office or benefits which other parties have access, yet people have joined us.”
“There is no path rather than truth,” he said adding none was coerced to join their party.
He said that their party workers were initially considered criminals, but now the entire Sharif family is being deemed criminal, Zardari has faced criminal cases, while even former army chief Musharraf is in exile due to criminal cases.
He said that entire political establishment is declared criminal, while only the innocent face the brunt when they take action. He further said that a military operation has been ongoing since twenty years but still there is no peace.
“The army and Rangers have made immense sacrifices, and can conduct operations, but cannot meet the hearts. It is only the PSP which can do that.”
He said that it was due to the PSP that MQM founder is being made powerless and cannot create havoc in Karachi. “It is our achievement that no one listens to the MQM,” he claimed.
