2 injured as helicopter crash lands at Peshawar’s Bacha Khan airport

PESHAWAR: A helicopter crash-landed at Peshawar’s Bacha Khan airport on Saturday.

Four persons were on-board, two of them were injured during the incident, however, no fatalities were reported, according to the sources within the airport administration.

Fire brigade trucks and ambulances have reached the runway for rescue. Security forces cordoned off  the premises earlier soon after the incident took place.

In a similar incident, on June 26, a trainer aircraft of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) crashed while landing at the Peshawar Air Base, killing two pilots.

According to a PAF spokesperson, the aircraft crashed when it was returning from a routine training mission. Two pilots of the aircraft were martyred in the accident.

“Pakistan Air Force reports with regret that a PAF FT-7PG trainer aircraft, while recovering from a routine operational training mission, crashed during landing at Peshawar Air Base,” a statement issued by the PAF said and added “Rescue operation is in progress.”

Meanwhile, the Air Headquarters, Islamabad has ordered an inquiry into the incident to determine the cause of the crash.
