223 COVID-19 cases in Sindh as Karachi’s tally declines

KARACHI: As many as four more patients of COVID-19 died and 223 new cases emerged during the last 24 hours in the Sindh province on Tuesday with Karachi witnessing a considerable decline in infection rate, ARY NEWS reported quoting Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah.

In a routine COVID-19 briefing, the chief minister said that four patient of COVID-19 lost their lives lifting the death toll to 7,555 that constituting a 1.6 percent death rate.

“11,478 samples were tested which detected 223 cases that constituted a 1.9 percent current detection rate,” he said adding that so far 6,342,904 tests have been conducted against which 467,426 cases were diagnosed, of them 95.8 percent or 447,981 patients have recovered, including 233 overnight.

The chief minister said that currently, 11,890 patients were under treatment, of them 11,638 were in home isolation, 27 at isolation centers and 225 at different hospitals.

“The condition of 224 patients was stated to be critical, including 14 shifted to ventilators,” he said.

As per the stats provided by Murad Ali Shah, out of 223 new cases, 48 have been detected from Karachi, including 29 from East, seven South, Malir and Korangi four each, Korangi and West two each.

Sharing cases of other districts of the province, he said that Jamshoro reported 26 cases, Badin 20, NausheroFeroze 18, Hyderabad 17, Sanghar 16, Mirpurkhas 15, Shaheed Benazirabad 14, Tharparkar 10, Qambar eight, Tando Allahyar seven, Umerkot six, Sukkur five, Ghotki and Shikarpur four each and Jacobabad three.

The chief minister urged the people of the province to follow SOPs.

Pakistan’s COVID-19 tally 

The Coronavirus viral disease has claimed six more lives in Pakistan during the last 24 hours, taking the overall death toll to 28,392.

According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), 572 more people were infected with the virus, lifting the nationwide tally of confirmed cases of the disease to 1,269,806.

Pakistan reported less than 10 coronavirus deaths in a day for the second consecutive day. The country reported a coronavirus positivity ratio of below 2 percent for the 11th consecutive day.
