KARACHI: At least 311 officers and employees of different departments in Sindh have voluntarily returned money accumulated through corruption, ARY News reported.
The Sindh government revealed this in a report submitted to the Sindh High Court on Monday.
The provincial government admitted corrupt officers were occupying key posts.
School Education Literacy department topped in returning money accumulated through embezzlement.
Two employees of Agriculture Supply, six of College Education, 15 of Finance, 25 of Food Department, two of Forest and Wildlife, six of Health, 27 of Irrigation, 50 of Local Government, eight of Police, five of Public Health Engineering, nine of Services & General Administration and 15 of Works and Services department voluntarily returned the money, said the report.

The report said that those who returned the money include officers from BPS Grade 9 to 19. It said 80 percent of the employees who admitted of corruption and returned the money had been removed from their posts.
The high court had ordered to sack all those employees who were involved in graft.
On January 6, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Khurram Sher Zaman had said that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) only promoted corruption in its 11-year tenure in Sindh.
Responding to the statements of PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, the PTI leader had asked that why Sindh was still deprived of basic facilities like potable water, education and healthcare.
Khurram Sher Zaman maintained that the PPP did nothing for the people of the province and added that Sindh went 100 years behind in the 11-year tenure of Zardari’s government.
