However, the Foreign Office on Tuesday claimed that the Pakistanis stranded due to “inclement weather’ were safe and in good health.
The FO statement said a two member team of Pakistan Embassy, Beijing, which reached Kashgar to assist the stranded people, is ‘closely’ coordinating with the Chinese Foreign Office and local authorities in Kashgar as well as the Pakistanis.
The visa issues faced by some of them are being taken care of with the assistance of Chinese authorities. The Pakistanis in Tashkuergan shall be travelling to Kashgar where they will be facilitated by Embassy Officials.
Subsequently, they will be repatriated by air from Urumqi to Islamabad as and when flights are available. It is expected that the first batch may leave on 14 April for Pakistan.
