6.4 magnitude earthquake jolts Balochistan coastal areas

GWADAR: A 6.4 magnitude earthquake jolted the coastal areas of Balochistan early Wednesday morning, ARY News reported.

According to details, the tremors were felt in Gwadar, Pasni, Turbat, Jiwani and adjoining areas along the Makran coastal belt of Balochistan.

Pakistan Meteorological Department stated that the epicenter of the earthquake was 23-kilometre west of Pasni with a depth of 10-kilometres.

The tremors, which struck at early hours of Wednesday at 03.00 am, caused people to wake up from their sleep and forced to come out of their homes in panic while reciting Kalma-e-Tayyaba and the verses of holy Qura’an.

The provincial authorities has issued an alert in Gwadar and Pasni hospitals and the doctors and para-medical staff has been instructed to remain in the hospitals.

According to the officials no casualties reported in the quake so far.
