Indian filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra has said his relationship with Aamir Khan reminded him of his love-and-hate equation with veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah.
Aamir has worked in two of Vidhu Chopra’s recent movies — PK and 3 Idiots — which earned big bucks. While, the filmmaker has been friends with Naseeruddin for more than three decades and there have been times when they both even got physically involved in fist fighting.
Talking to indianexpress.com, Chopra said despite his collaboration with Aamir has spelled magic, but their extremely opposite temperaments also ensured intense clashes.
The filmmaker revealed this in an interaction on the sidelines of a session dedicated to ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’ movie at the ongoing Jio MAMI 19th Mumbai Film Festival. Vidhu and Naseeruddin worked together on Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro.
Sudhir Mishra, who co-wrote the screenplay of the cult film, was also a part of the discussion.
“Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro was at a time when everyone was hungry, aspirational, angry and trying to prove a point. It was a fortunate amalgamation of a bunch of people who hate and love each other simultaneously,” Sudhir Mishra said about cast of the film, which, besides Naseeruddin, also included Om Puri, Ram Biswani and Satish Shah.
“Naseer and Vinod have the most complex relationship in the world. They can’t live without each other,” Sudhir added. To which, Chopra remarked laughingly, “I’ve found my Naseer in Aamir. Now, it is the same with him.”

When Sudhir said, “I have seen them get into fist fights. I have come in between and got hit,” Vidhu admitted that they have hit each other.
However, the filmmaker quipped that his relation with Aamir had not reached to a level of physical fights yet.
