LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader Abid Sher Ali on Tuesday challenged Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmaker Farrukh Habib’s victory from a National Assembly seat, NA-108, in Faisalabad.
The PML-N leader filed an election petition in the Lahore High Court (LHC), requesting it to declare his rival candidate’s win from the constituency void.
Earlier, a LHC bench had rejected a request by Abid Sher Ali seeking recounting of votes cast in the National Assembly constituency in the general election on July 25.
He alleged that the bogus copies of Form 45 were prepared to help his rival win the election, and the polling agents belonging to his party were forced out of polling stations during the counting of ballot papers.
The PTI candidate won the election by bagging 112,740 votes while Abid Sher Ali managed to secure 111,529 votes.
