LAHORE: An adjournment motion was on Tuesday submitted in the Punjab Assembly against murder of a female domestic worker, Uzma, in Lahore, ARY News reported.

The adjournment motion was submitted by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Member of Provincial Assembly Momina Touheed.

Summary of the motion said the video that went viral on social media about the murder had raised consciousness of people. It said the victim’s fault was that she had eaten a bite of meal from plate of the lady of the house’s daughter.

A woman and her daughter were arrested for murder of the 16-year-old maid in Iqbal Town, Lahore, on Monday.

Police said the women killed teenage girl Uzma on January 18 and dumped her body in a nearby sewage drain.

Police said the young maid was killed for eating from the girl’s plate. Following which, the lady of the house hit Uzma multiple times on her head with a steel dish and killed her, they added.

The primary object of an adjournment motion is to draw the attention of the House to a recent matter of urgent public importance having serious consequences and in regard to which a motion or a resolution with proper notice will be too late.

“The adjournment motion is thus an extraordinary procedure which, if admitted, leads to setting aside the normal business of the House for discussing a definite matter of urgent public importance,” reads a statement on website of the Senate of Pakistan.
