Advanced IT institutes, career counseling need of hour: IT experts

KARACHI: There lies vast scope of jobs in the IT sector. The only thing we lack is advanced IT institutes and career counseling, said IT experts on Saturday.

“Because of lack of career counseling our students start in one subject and end up in another sector,” an IT expert from a software house said while talking to ARY News at APTECH 3rd IT Job Fair – Career Link – in Karachi. ARY Group was exclusive media partner of the event.

Assistant Manager Placement Aptech Akhtar Rasool said IT industry was fast exploding with latest inventions and advanced technologies resultantly creating more job opportunities.

He said job fairs create win-win situation for companies and candidates, specially fresh graduates. Corporations do not have to sort out a large number of CVs. They get skilled employees at ease, interview them and make them offers.

“Students of different institutes were invited from across the city. Companies like software houses, ISP companies and banks participated in the annual job fair today. Live interviews were conducted and potential students have been shortlisted for different companies,” he said.

Students seemed happy with the fair which provided them opportunity to learn different things at hand.

A student Anas Ayub said such job fairs build their confidence, groom interview skills and we get to know where we are lacking.

To a query, a student Tabarruk Khan said entrepreneurship was always attached with a risk of defaulting, otherwise there was no better choice than building one’s own business.
