ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has recorded a protest with Afghanistan on its inability to hand over the body of slain Superintendent of Police (SP) Tahir Khan Dawar on immediate basis, who was kidnapped from Islamabad on Oct 26 and later found murdered.
Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal on Thursday notified of the development during his weekly press brief. “We lodged a protest with with Afghanistan over the delay in handing over SP Dawar’s body,” he said.
“We have demanded that his body be handed over to Pakistan immediately,” Dr Faisal added.
He further apprised media that the Pakistani counsel general is at the hospital to receive the body of the martyred officer.
Shaukat Yousufzai said, the martyred’s body will be brought home to Peshawar via Torkham border in a helicopter.
The spokesperson said that the Afghan diplomat has been summoned twice to the Foreign Office over the matter.

On the other hand, Prime Minister Imran Khan has ordered an immediate inquiry into the ‘shocking tragedy’ of the killing of SP Tahir Khan Dawar.
In his tweet, PM Khan notified that he has “followed the shocking tragedy of the murder of SP Tahir Khan Dawar” and directed Khyber Pakhtunkhawa government to coordinate with Islamabad police in carrying out a speedy probe.
He further wrote that Minister of State on Interior “Shehryar Khan Afridi has been tasked to oversee” the matter on urgent basis, while also instructing the minister to present a report on the sensitive murder case.
