Afridi defends Amir after Rohit Sharma’s remarks

Rohit Sharma had earlier said that Mohammad Amir was just a normal bowler and there was hype around him.

“There is just so much hype around him, I don’t think it is right to give him too much hype after one match. He is good but he needs to prove it over and over again. Now people are comparing him to Wasim Akram and all that. He is just a normal bowler, on that given day if he is good, he is good. It is not as if he turns up and blows everyone away”, Sharma had said.

Shahid Afridi said, “Now if he (Rohit) has said something like that, you have to ask him. For me, Mohammad Amir is the best.”

“The way he has been performing, like how he has performed in the past, his name is there among the top international bowlers,” the Pakistani skipper added.

It should be noted that Virat Kohli had called Mohammad Amir as a “world class bowler” before the Asia Cup T20.

Pakistan kick start their 2016 World T20 campaign against Bangladesh on 16th March and will take on arch rivals India on 19th March. Both matches will be played at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens stadium.
