Airport flight operations suspended as dust storm hits Karachi

Heavy winds with light drizzling in some areas brought down the intensity of heatwave in Karachi, where mercury remained around 39 centigrade, on Wednesday. The megapolis was also engulfed by a dust storm reducing visibility in many parts of the city.

The visibility reduced to zero around Jinnah International Airport, prompting suspension of flight operations.

The sudden but pleasant twist in weather swept a wave of happiness among the masses, many of whom came out on roads or on the top of their houses to enjoy the weather despite dust.
