ISLAMABAD: An accountability court on Thursday adjourned the hearing of Al-Azizia and Flagship references until September 17.
Accountability Court II Judge Arshad Malik was presiding over the case as the defense counsel Khawaja Haris cross-examined Panama Joint Investigation Team (JIT) head Wajid Zia and questioned “whether volume 10 of the JIT report was sealed when it was submitted to the Supreme Court.”
To which, the prosecution’s star witness responded that it was not sealed.
Nawaz’s legal counsel submitted a request for his client’s exemption from the appearance in the case owing to the demise of his wife Kulsoom Nawaz.
The court granted the exemption plea of convicted former premier Nawaz Sharif from appearing in the hearing of corruption references.
The hearing was subsequently adjourned until September 17.
A day earlier, the accountability court judge adjourned the hearing without any proceedings saying “it is not appropriate to carry out proceedings today; Kulsoom Nawaz was a great personality,”
