All flights operating according to schedule: CAA

In an interview to Radio Pakistan, Joint Director CAA said that that operations of all private and international airlines would continue at all the airports across of the country.

Gilani claimed that the federal government had arranged additional flights for Islamabad and Lahore.

However, PIA flight operations remain affected as the employees’ protest, which turned deadly on Tuesday when three employees of the airline died in firing, entered in its second day.

Over 100 flights were cancelled across the country and the Joint Action Committee said the situation would remain as such until those who were responsible for the murders of the three protesters were not brought to justice.

Following the ensuing drama and chaos yesterday, PIA chairman Nasser Jaffar resigned from his post on February 2.

A protest rally by employees of the Pakistan International Airlines turned bloody as protesters clashed with police and Rangers personnel who were deployed near Jinnah Terminal gate.

The situation tensed when three staffers were killed and six people were injured, including media personnel in firing. The protesters were rallying against the recommended privatization of the national airline.
