DUBAI/LONDON: Boxer Amir Khan and wife Faryal Makhdoom have parted ways, the Pakistan-origin British boxer announced on Twitter on Friday.

In a series of tweets, Amir Khan first announced that he and Faryal have agreed to split and he wishes her all the best but the announcement soon turned into a tirade as the exchange between him and Faryal became an ugly fight.
“Faryal moved on quick. Always mentioned to me how much she wanted to be with another guy, from all people another boxer, Anthony Joshua,” Amir said, adding that he left his friends and family for Faryal but she chose another fighter over him so he is divorcing her.
Amir even called her a “gold digger”.

Here is how Faryal replied to Amir
Faryal Makhdoom reciprocated Amir’s accusations by saying that he left his family because they “robbed” him and not because of her.
She added that Amir Khan is accusing other boxers because his own career is finished.
As to Amir Khan’s “gold digger” comment, Faryal claimed that she paid house bills and bills for her daughter herself “like a single mother”.
She apologised to all the family and friends “who are hurt by this” and maintained that Amir should not have done “stupid tweets”.
“I think he just needs some attention because boxing hasn’t been going well for him so he’s just been acting up 😏 #30yearoldbaby,” said Faryal.

In December last year, Faryal Makhdoom claimed that she suffered abuse at the hands of her in-laws and took to Snapchat to spill the beans on ‘suffering she had been braving for some time’.
“Don’t get your sons married if you’re going to abuse and bully the wife. I’ve always been so quiet but seriously, this message is for everyone! When you bring someone’s daughter — treat her as your own. Your son will be much happier and so will you.” she said in one of the messages.
After a week, she appeared in ITV’s The Morning show from Toronto and leveled similar allegations against her in-laws especially Amir’s sister and brother.
Makhdoom maintained that when Amir Khan’s family came to her home first time she was wearing sleeveless and she was always very modern about her dressing.
“I am the same person as I was five years ago when I got engaged but none addressed that sorry we can’t accept you because of the way you dress… or because you are too independent,” lamented Faryal.
Faryal Makhdoom, however, maintained that she respects her religion and is in no way a “drinker, smoker or a party girl”, it is just that she is modern about her dressing.
About what made her go public when it is hurting Amir Khan as well, Faryal explained that it is not her nature to go public about personal matters but over the years “Amir Khan’s brother and sister went on Twitter rants and Instagram rants” saying she does not get along with them, calling her Michael Jackson and that she is fake and had plastic surgery.
The duo married in 2013 and have a daughter together.
‘Accounts hacked’
Faryal later deleted all of her tweets regarding the matter and claimed that Amir Khan and her accounts have been hacked.
“Amirs account and my twitter account have been compromised. I sincerely apologise,” she said on Snapchat.
Amir Khan however confirmed the split in a Snapchat video.
