Amir Khan MQM

TOP NEWS

Amir Khan is a senior leader of MQM-Pakistan’s Bahadurabad faction formed after the February disagreement between him and then party chief Farooq Sattar.

Amir and his likeminded leaders formed the new faction, a second blow to the party since August 22, 2016 when the party rebranded itself to dissociate from its London-based founder Altaf Hussain.

Amir, who remained a part of Altaf-led MQM till 1991, formed his own party MQM-Haqqiqi with Afaq Ahmed in 1992, the year when law-enforcement agencies kicked off ‘Operation Clean-up’ against the MQM in Karachi.

The MQM claimed that it had lost around 15, 000 workers during that operation, which they termed extrajudicial killing.

In 2011, Amir Khan rejoined MQM and is still a part of the party but of its Bahadurabad faction led by Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui.

Amir Khan never participated in any elections.
