Fresh monsoon spell to begin in parts of Pakistan within 48 hours

ISLAMABAD: A fresh spell of monsoon rains is expected to hit Punjab, Azad Kashmir, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in next 48 hours, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

The new wet spell will persist three to four days, as per the forecast.

The Met department has forecast cloudy weather for Karachi with chances of light showers in the city. However, the weather in other parts of Pakistan will remain hot and humid as notified by the PMD officials.

According to the weathermen, the monsoon rain-thundershower with gusty winds will lash isolated places in Malakand, Hazara, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala and Lahore divisions, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir regions.

On the other hand, the National Disaster Management Authority has warned civic organisations to be prepared for urban flooding in cities, including Rawalpindi, Lahore and Peshawar.
