ISLAMABAD: Tempers are expected to flare once again on Panamagate as the National Assembly session will resume on Thursday, ARY News reported.
The National Assembly turned into a fish market as members of the house from ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and opposition Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) exchanged heated words on Wednesday and the PTI members protested before the speaker’s rostrum and chanted slogans against the PM and the ruling party.
PTI members that had boycotted the parliament since October, had decided to return to the lower house to submit the privilege and adjournment motions against contradiction in Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s statement in the house and his lawyers stance in the Supreme Court in the Panamagate Case.
Speaker Ayaz Sadiq rejected privilege motions on Panama papers stating that the matter is sub-judice.
After Opposition Leader Khursheed Shah highlighted the Panama Papers issue in his speech, the NA speaker allowed PML-N leader Saad Rafique to speak at a time when PTI lawmakers too had requested audience.
Opposition legislators protested and tore copies of the session’s agenda in the National Assembly over the Speaker’s ruling.
The session was first adjourned for 15 minutes but the speaker had to adjourn it till Thursday as the situation did not return to normalcy for long.
