ISLAMABAD: The government’s decision to appoint Pervez Rathore as acting chairman of Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has been challenged in Islamabad High Court (IHC), ARY News reported on Saturday.
Justice Noorul Haq Qureshi will hold preliminary hearing of the matter on Monday.
Israr Abbasi, a private member of PEMRA, in
his petition argued that the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority Ordianance 2002 has been silent over the issue. The plea said that only chairman and members can be appointed in the authority.
The petitioner pleaded to the court to declare appointment of the acting chairman of PEMRA as null and void.
