RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa expressed deep sorrow over the sad demise of Shamsher Alam Satti, father of martyred Lieutenant Arsalan Alam Satti, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement on Wednesday.
Lt Arsalan Alam, a 22-year-old Pak Army officer who hailed from Murree, embraced martyrdom on September 23 in Khyber Agency’s Rajgal valley in a cross-border firing from Afghanistan.
The martyred officer’s father, the only man left in the family, breathed his last on Wednesday after suffering a cardiac arrest.
“COAS deeply saddened on demise of father of Shaheed Lt Arsalan,” the DG ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor said in a tweet, adding, “Not only by the soldiers, sacrifices by our families continue.”
“Pakistan Army holds every jawan as its family,” the military’s public relations wing said in a statement.
“The army also considers a family of a martyr as its own,” it added.
The funeral prayers of Shamsher Alam Satti will be offered at his ancestral village Gail near Murree today (Thursday) at 3:00 pm.
