Local bodies minister reviews arrangements for PSL matches

KARACHI: Sindh minister for local bodies Saeed Ghani on Monday chaired a meeting to review the arrangements for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches which will be played in the metropolis next month, ARY News reported.

Karachi Mayor Wasim Akhtar, Commissioner Iftikhar Ali Shalwani, the local bodies secretary, the deputy commissioners of all the district municipal corporations (DMCs) and other relevant officials attended the meeting.

They deliberated on a range of issues, including security arrangements, beautification of the city, availability of parking lots, and other related matters to ensure the smooth holding of the PSL matches in the port city.

The minister directed the city administration to finalise all the arrangements for the PSL matches in a timely manner and imposed a month-long ban on road cutting from Feb 17 to March 17.

He also issued directives for the beautification of the city and revoked permits issued to advertising firms by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and district municipal corporations (DMCs) for putting up their advertisements in the city.

The minister directed that large screens be put up at public places in the city at the time of the PSL matches for spectators. Meanwhile, a committee led by the mayor has been tasked to review routes for the PSL matches in the next two days. It would review arrangements at the National Stadium, parking spaces, and other matters.
