ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) secretary general Asad Umar on Friday challenged his arrest under MPO in the Islamabad High Court (IHC), ARY News reported.
Asad Umar challenged his detention under MPO through Babar Awan and Amna Ali in the Islamabad High Court. Secretary Interior, IG Police and others have been made respondents in the plea.
The former federal minister in his plea stated that as per SC’s verdict, arrests cannot be made on the premises of the high court. During arrest from the IHC premises, my fundamental human rights were affected, Umar further said in his plea.
He pleaded with the court to strike down his arrest and order release.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Asad Umar was arrested from the premises of Islamabad High Court (IHC) on May 10.
The PTI Secretary General was arrested from the IHC as he reached to file a petition to seek a meeting with PTI Chairman Imran Khan.
Several PTI leaders including, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Asad Umar, Fawad Chaudhry, Jamsheed Iqbal Cheema, Musarrat Cheema, Falak Naz Chitrali and Malika Bukhari, Shireen Mazari, Qasim Suri, Ali Muhammad Khan and others have been arrested for ‘provoking’ people for violent protests.
