According to details, processions to pay tribute to Imam Hussain (RA) and other martyrs of Karbala are on their way in almost all the cities of the country. Provincial governments with the help of center have made stern security arrangements on the day in order to protect the masses against any possible terrorist attack.
Cellular services are suspended in different cities including Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar, while a ban on pillion riding is also in effect on account of Ashoora Muharram.
Following the Wagah suicide attack which had claimed 60 lives on Sunday, law enforcement agencies (LEAs) conducted several raids in sensitive cities arresting a number of suspects to protect the mourners.
The Ministry of Interior has also deployed 32,000 military and paramilitary troops in 54 cities countrywide, which will assist the relative provincial governments to ensure law and order during Ashoora Muharram.
Apart from this, 12 choppers are also there for air-surveillance of the processions in different cities.
