ATC rejects bail plea of Uzair Baloch in five cases

KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Saturday rejected bail plea of Lyari gangster Uzair Baloch in five cases which were registered against him during police operation in Lyari, ARY NEWS reported.

The court announced its verdict reserved previously on the bail pleas from Uzair Baloch and refused to grant bail to him.

The police said that the cases were registered against Uzair Baloch at Kalakot police station in Lyari during police operation against the gangster in 2012. “Uzair Baloch, Zakir Dada and other accomplices booked in the cases are currently in jail,” they said.

The Lyari kingpin has been acquitted in multiple cases previously and recently Uzair Baloch was acquitted by the anti-terrorism court (ATC) in kidnapping and murder case of a trader.

An anti-terrorism court acquitted Uzair Baloch and his brother Zubair Baloch in another case after the prosecution failed to present evidence against their involvement in the crime.

“The accused had kidnapped a trader Abdul Samad for ransom and demanded one million rupees as ransom money from the family,” according to the police charge-sheet. “The accused received 70,000 rupees from the traders family and killed him,” police said.

His lawyer called charges against the accused false and concocted and said that the accused have nothing to do with the kidnapping and murder of the victim.

The FIR of the crime was filed against Uzair and other accused, at Chakiwara police station in year 2009.
