Attack on Chaudhry Aslam was a suicide act, says Police

KARACHI: Lyari Expressway has been closed for investigation of the attack on Thursday in which SP CID Chaudhry Aslam and two other police officials were killed and scores of others injured, ARY News reported on Friday. 

DIG Police Zafar Bukhari has said that the terrorist act, which claimed lives of three police officials including CID chief Chaudhry Aslam, was a suicide attack. In the terrorist attack 150 kilograms to 200 KG explosives were used, he said.

Bukhari said that Taliban spokesman Shahidullah Shahid in a telephone call had exchanged hot words with Chaudhry Aslam who had vowed to fight against terrorism. 

Top officials of police department Raja Umar Khatab, Niaz Khoso and others along with investigation teams visited the bombing attack site at Lyari Expressway, which has been closed for traffic. 

Forensic teams have been engaged in gathering evidence from the spot. Police investigators also collecting evidence from the expressway and adjacent Essa Nagri graveyard. Probe teams have also found pieces of blue fibre from the spot.
