The three political figures along with Pakistan People’s Party leader (PPP) Abdul Qadir Patel were arrested in a case pertaining to providing treatment and shelter to alleged terrorists were sent to Central Jail Karachi on Tuesday after an anti-terrorism court (ATC) rejected their pre-arrest bail applications.
Rangers’ lawyer said that the ATC court has given its verdict in the terror facilitation case without any pressures.
Wasim Akhtar and Abdul Rauf Siddiqui and Anis Qaimkhani were arrested from the premises of the ATC except Patel who left the court premises following the orders of his arrest.
Television footage showed Patel leaving from outside the court in his vehicle, which was taken as an attempt preventing his arrest.
However, he later surrendered himself to police rejecting the claims that he had absconded from the court.

Wasim Akhtar, Anis Qaimkhani and others – facing charges of allegedly asking the former petroleum minister to provide treatment and shelter to alleged terrorists and gangsters at Ziauddin Hospital – were barred from leaving the court.
Karachi’s mayor nominee Wasim Akhtar had declared his arrest unconstitutional and unlawful.
He is due to appear before the ATC on August 3.
Deputy Superintendent Rangers had registered a First Information Report (FIR) that alleged that Dr Asim, a close aide of former president Asif Ali Zardari, provided facilitation to terror elements in the country on the behest of MQM leaders Abdul Rauf Siddiqui, Wasim Akhtar, Saleem Shahzad, PSP leader Anis Qaimkhani and PPP leader Qadir Patel.
Dr Asim, currently in the custody of NAB, was arrested by Rangers on charges of corruption and facilitating terrorists in August 2015.
