If ‘balloons’ were not enough, spy ‘Pigeon’ panicked India

PATHANKOT: On Sunday, smiling Indian border security force (BSF) officials were holding a grey pigeon under armed guard after it was caught in Indian Punjab on an alleged spying mission for Pakistan, Indian media said.

The pigeon – apparently trained in crossing the border between Pakistan and India and sending targeted messages – entered Bamial sector of Pathankot with a small piece of a letter in Urdu language containing an exclusive message, this time for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Fearing the pigeon could be a threat to Indian security or it might explode, Indian media reported that it was immediately taken into custody for further investigation.

According to Indian police officials, the message sent through the pigeon for their premier read, “Modi Ji, do not consider us same people as we were during 1971 (Indo-Pak war). Now each and every child is ready to fight against India.”

The development comes after Indian forces declared that two ‘spying balloons’ were recovered on Saturday with similar messages in the area.

India has a history of establishing Pakistani links with almost everything that crosses its border including the so-called spying pigeons.

Last month, Indian police said that another white pigeon with Urdu words on its wings landed in Motla village of the Mukerian sub-division – a bordering area on the Indian side.

Even then, they suspected that it could be a bird being allegedly used for spying or sending secret messages from Pakistan and arrested it.
