Belgium, Australia win in Men’s Hockey World Cup

THE HAGUE: Belgium, Australia and India won their respective matches in the Men’s Field Hockey World Cup played at Netherlands’ capital The Hague on Saturday, ARY News reports.

Belgium thrashed Spain 5-2 to win their match yesterday.

Belgian Tanguy Cosyns scored the first goal of the match in the 13th minute while Alexandre de Saedeleer scored the second of the match three minutes later. Emmanuel Stockbroekx netted the third in the 34th minute and Cosyns scored his second in the 38th minute to make it 4-0.

John-John Dohmen scored the fifth in the 47th minute.

Eduard Tubau scored the first for the Spanish side in the 58th minute whereas Santi Freixa made it 5-2 in the 66th minute.

Meanwhile, India beat Malaysia 3-2 in the World Cup encounter.

Jasjit Singh Kular took the lead for India in the 15th minute but Razie Abd Rahim equalized for the Malaysian side in the 46 minute.

Akashdeep Singh scored two back to back goals in the 49th and 51st minute to take the scoreline to 3-1.

Marhan Jalil scored the second goal for the Malaysian is the 61st minute.

On the other hand, Australia gave a 5-0 hammering to England yesterday.

Australia made a rampant start to the match as Matt Gohdes scored in the first minute whereas Liam de Young doubled the lead in the 13th minute. Jamie Dwyer made it 3-0 in the 29th minute while Kieran Govers scored the fourth for the Australians on the brink of 35th minute.

Aran Zalewski put the final nail in the coffin as he netted the fifth in the 38th minute.
