Bilawal decides to meet Nawaz at Kot Lakhpat jail

LAHORE: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has decided to meet incarcerated former prime minister Nawaz Sharif at Kot Lakhpat jail today, ARY News reported.

The PPP chairman decided to meet Nawaz Sharif jailed in Lahore to inquire about his health.

Bilawal has forwarded a formal application to the Punjab home department seeking permission of the authorities for his meeting with the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) supremo on Saturday (today).

Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari is currently present in Lahore on Friday, sources said.

It was stated in the letter that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari wanted to inquire about the health of Nawaz Sharif. Sources said that the meeting was restricted with the permission of the home department.

Other leaders will also accompany Bilawal during the meeting which includes Qamar Zaman Kaira, Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar and Jamil Soomro, the letter stated.

Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari had raised concerns over the health of former premier and alleged ‘callous and inhumane’ treatment of Nawaz Sharif by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led government.

Prior to this tweet, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry had announced on Twitter that Prime Minister Imran Khan given directions to the Punjab government for the provision of best medical facilities to ousted premier Nawaz Sharif.

According to Chaudhry, the prime minister has told the Punjab government to let Nawaz Sharif be treated by the doctor and at the hospital of his choice. The premier further asked to ensure complete implementation of the recommendations given by the medical board, constituted for Sharif’s checkup.

The supreme leader of PML-N is currently serving his seven years jail term at Kot Lakpath prison, for being found guilty in Al-Azizia corruption reference.
