LAHORE: The orders of the Supreme Court to place Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chariman Asif Ali Zardai and his sister Faryal Talpur on Exit Control List (ECL), in money laundering case, have rattled the PPP.
PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zaradri will preside on Tuesday (today) an emergency meeting of core party members, called to discuss the matter of barring most senior party leaders Zardari and Faryal from traveling abroad.
The emergency meeting will also entail consultation on the ongoing countrywide election campaign of the party.
Bilawal will fly directly to Lahore after concluding his election campaign in Southern Punjab.
Asif Ali Zardari, Khursheed Shah, Raza Rabbani, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Aitzaz Ahsan, Latif Khosa and other senior party members will attend the meeting to discuss the court decision.
The apex court issued the directives in connection with a suo motu case concerning a FIA investigation into fake bank accounts and dubious transactions worth billions of rupees conducted through banks.
The top court has also summoned the PPP co-chairman and his sister Faryal Talpur on July 12.
The Supreme Court had taken a suo motu notice after media reported the alleged money laundering through the banks.
