BISP introduces 25 young women as brand ambassadors

ISLAMABAD: BISP has introduced twenty-five young women from the social development sector who will act as brand ambassadors for various initiatives to supplement the progress of the organisation.

The ambassadors were chosen from delegates of the “Emerging Young Women Leaders Congress (EYWLC)” organised by the Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies (IPDS).

The congress brought emerging women leaders from across the country BISP headquarters on Thursday to brainstorm ways to collaborate with the organisation.

This provided an opportunity to interact with experienced women leaders to facilitate an exchange of fresh ideas, knowledge and experience of leadership building and networking for women in Pakistan.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister of State and chairperson BISP Marvi Memon said BISP is a unique programme that would take you to the poorest of the poor.

She said the young leaders can choose any area for community service as customer base is spread across the country. She offered the platform of BISP Beneficiary Committee (BBCs) for projects aimed at development and empowerment of women.

Ms. Memon said that a book will be launched titled “The Story of BISP” based on real stories of BISP beneficiaries from each district of the country. The stories will be in both Urdu and English and the book will be available in print, audio and online.

“Women congress will project and disseminate the stories of poor beneficiaries so that general public can become aware of the conditions of the BISP beneficiaries and can understand the services provided by BISP,” she said.

Ms. Farhat Asif, President IPDS, said that working for BISP would not only win recognition for the young leaders but help them in fulfilling their moral obligation towards society.

During the discussion, it was also decided to constitute four sub-committees to deal with different areas of cooperation.

The e-commerce committee will market the handicrafts made by the BISP beneficiaries, and train them to refine traditional craft to fulfill customer needs in global market.

The subcommittee on “University Buddies” will create a network of volunteers from universities to impart essential skills like basic farming techniques and entrepreneurial skills.

Women empowerment module creator committee will provide training on nutrition, hygiene, basic finance, counting, maternal and child health.
