Bollywood actor Tom Alter suffering from stage four skin cancer

Theatre, television, film actor and former sports journalist Tom Alter has been diagnosed with cancer. The news was confirmed by his son Jamie Alter days after Tom was discharged from a Mumbai Hospital, Indian newspaper reported.

According to an Indian newspaper, Alter’s son Jamie confirmed that his father, aged 67, is suffering from stage four skin cancer.

He had fallen sick a year ago when he did not turn up for his play based on singer KL Saigal. He also had to cancel a promotional event of his upcoming film.

Last week, Alter was admitted into a city hospital as he complained of severe

body pain, this led to speculations of Tom suffering from a terminal disease. Later his longtime collaborator and playwright Sayeed Alam rubbished the rumours until Alter’s son confirmed this news.

He was last seen in Vijay Verma and Imran Khan’s travel drama Sargoshiyan earlier this year. He is best known for his stint in theatre.

The former sports journalist had interviewed Sachin Tendulkar for the first time for television before he made his debut for India.

He is a gold medalist from Film and Television Institute of India in Pune has worked in more than 300 films and several telly shows.
