Fifth breach created at Shershah Dyke to save Multan from floods

The flood is passing along River Chenab near Multan. Pakistan Army and the district administration have developed five breaches to save the city from the floodwater as of yet.

The water level at Shershah Brige has increased to 94 ft which is the highest since 1992.

The pressure of the floods has been witnessed at Matmawala, Rohaliwala, Super Noor, Darmar and Madwala dykes areas in Alipur area.

Several villages in Jalalpur Pirwala, an area 83 kilometres away from Multan, were submerged due to the breaking of Zameendara Dyke whereas the Hussain Bakhsh, Naseerwala, Khan Pur Qaziyan, Hajipur also came under the raging floods.

A 60 ft wide crack was caused by the breaking of Muradabad dyke near Muzaffargarh due tp which the floodwater entered several villages including Bootaabad, Fazilpur and Makhdoom Ali Pir.

The floodwater is slowly joining the Indus River after passing through the areas of Muzaffargarh, Roheelawali and Sher Sultan Ali Pur.
