‘Breakthrough’ likely in Imran Farooq murder case within days: sources

Sources said the DNA of suspect Mohisn Ali, who recorded his confessional statement to British investigators in Pakistan a few days ago, matched with the blood samples taken from the items recovered from the site of murder.

It was further reported that the London police have received key evidences with the matching of the DNA and a ‘breakthrough’ is expected in the case in next few days.

Earlier to this, a 12-year-old child has testified in the case.

The child, who aged seven at the time of murder, told investigators that suspect Mohsin Ali and his accomplice had commanded him and fellow children to move away from the spot where the senior MQM leader was stabbed to death.

Pakistan has already hinted at handing over the suspects in the case to UK.

Sources further said that the arrested three suspects are likely to be flown to UK through a special plane.

On Sep 16, 2010, the suspects had killed Dr Imran Farooq by stabbing him multiple times and hitting with bricks.
