Korean pop sensation BTS is choosing to look at the brighter side of the picture after losing out their first Grammys nomination to Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga during Sunday’s ceremony reported People.
The pop band, that was up for a Grammy in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category, addressed their loss at ‘music’s biggest night’ during an appearance on the Korean live-streaming service V-Live.
J-Hope, Jin, Jimin, Suga, RM, Jungkook, and V, who attended the event virtually from Seoul, opened up about why they thought they did not win the coveted award. “The reason we weren’t able to win is, I think many of you probably expect this, but we took it as them telling us to come and get the award in person,” said RM.
However, the loss has not pushed them down. The band shared that they were focusing on the positives.
“I saw a lot of articles saying we ‘failed’ to get the award, but I don’t think it’s a fail since we were able to perform for the first time as nominees,” RM explained. “I don’t think it’s a failure but let’s look at the positive side; we were nominated for the first time and did our first solo performance.”
Despite not being awarded, the group was up for their first solo performance for which they chose to put up an intense show to their original song Dynamite; the seven-member band had a small cameo during Lil Nas X’s performance of Old Town Road last year.
