LAHORE: On the directives of the Supreme Court, police sprung to action and lodged a case against Hamza Shehbaz and five others on the complaint of Ayesha Ahad, who claims to be his disowned wife.
The apex court had on Saturday ordered to lodge a case by midnight, against the son of former Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, for allegedly extending threats to Ms. Ahad.
CCPO Lahore Ameen Wain confirmed lodging case against Hamza Shehbaz, Zulfiqar Cheema, Inspector Atiq Dogar, Rana Maqbool and Imran Yousuf.
He said Ayesha Ahad had nominated six people in the complaint, and that the application filed by her in 2011 was part of the FIR against Hamza and others. The suspects were booked under section 354, 511, 149, 337, 506, 342 and 382. According to Police section 354 is non bailable offense.
However, despite the case being lodged, no progress has been made so far. Police has not made an arrest so far neither have initiated any legal procedures.
On Saturday, Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar heard a petition filed by Ms. Ahad seeking registration of a case against the PML-N leader and others for allegedly subjecting her to torture.
She informed the bench that she feared for her and daughter’s life as Hamza has been making threats against them.
CJP has also expressed displeasure over non-compliance of subordinate court’s directives for registration of case on complaint against Hamza Shebaz.
He directed Inspector-General Punjab to provide protection to Ayesha Ahad and summoned record of cases filed against her on June 6.
The hearing of the case was adjourned till June 29.
Ms Ahad claims to be the disowned wife of leader Hamza Shahbaz, and has said that Hamza married her back in 2010.
