China won’t close its door to any country: Xi Jinping

BEIJING: Chinese President Xi Jinping says China’s initiative to expand imports is not a makeshift, but long-term consideration of embracing the world and future while promoting common development, ARY News reported.

China will not close its door to the world and will only become more and more open, President Xi said, while delivering his speech at the China International Import Expo today.

The Chinese president said China would push forward multilateral and bilateral cooperation in pursuit of development. “All countries should be committed to opening-up and oppose protectionism and unilateralism in a clear-cut stand,” he added.

He called upon all the countries to stick to innovation and accelerate the transition with traditional growth drivers being replaced by new ones.

Mr. Jinping said all countries should uphold the principle of inclusive development and shared benefits, in order to realize common development.

He believes that economic globalization is an irreversible historical trend and provides strong momentum for the world economic development.

Organisers of the event say more than 3,000 foreign companies from 130 countries including the United States, Europe and across Asia will put their products on display for potential Chinese buyers at the China International Import Expo.

It may be noted here that the expo has been met with some foreign scepticism, with Washington snubbing the gathering by not sending high-level representation, instead calling on China to change “unfair” trade practices.
