Church blast victims funeral today

Two Taliban suicide bombers attacked two churches inĀ  Lahore during the prayer service on Sunday.

All preparations have been completed for the funeral of the deceased with tight security arrangements in place.

All entry and exit points of the area have been sealed. Around 5000 policemen have been deployed in the area.

The leaders of the Christian community have called the people to remain peaceful.

The authorities have deployed fresh contingents of paramilitary Rangers due to tense situation in the area.

The Government of Punjab has formed a joint investigation team (JIT) for the Youhanabad incident.

Two suicide blasts outside the Catholic Church and Christ Church in Youhanabad killed 16 people and injured dozens of others.

The incident sparked protests all over the country with violence dominating Lahore for two days. Enraged protesters wielding batons clashed with police at Ferozepur Road and other areas and the administration had to call in Pakistan Rangers to bring the situation under control.
