CM Buzdar underscores need for effective awareness campaign on thalassemia

LAHORE: The Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Sunday underscored the need for effective awareness campaign on thalassemia and termed the thalassemia children flower of our garden and wish they spend happy and comfortable life.

Addressing a ceremony hosted for the patients suffering from thalassemia at the 90 Shahrah-e-Quaid Azam, the chief minister said that the government will do every possible effort for thalassemia patients .

According to a statement released from his office, Usman Buzdar said that this is an inherited disease and it can be uprooted by adopting preventive measures. The chief minister announced that the Punjab government will table a bill in the provincial assembly to make thalassemia test mandatory before marriage and added that this bill will be proved an effective mechanism for the protection against thalassemia.

He said the scope of thalassemia test laboratory will be extended to the divisional level and in this second phase it will be extended to the district level.

He said the Punjab government will provide all-out resources at the priority for the prevention of thalassemia.

The Punjab CM said,” The PTI government will work round-the-clock for the improvement in the health sector. We will bring about real change in the health sector.”

Later, CM Usman Buzdar held meeting with a delegation of students who had arrived in Lahore from the Balochistan Residential College, Khuzdar.

He welcomed the Balochistan Students in Lahore and assured all-out cooperation to resolve their problems.

Speaking on the occasion, CM Usman Buzdar said, “The youth is an asset and we have high hopes from our youth. Balochistan is our future and this province has huge resources. If these resources are utilized then Balochistan and Pakistan both will progress.”

Brotherhood, harmony and love increase due to visits of students to other provinces, he said and added that the students of Punjab will also visit in the same way as the students of Balochistan have visited.

The chief minister said, “Our resources are available for the people of Balochistan and we will review to increase quota of students from Balochistan in institutions of Punjab.”
