LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated state of the art Hepatitis Prevention & Treatment Clinic in Lahore on Sunday and vowed to establish 36 more clinics this year in Punjab.
“Hepatitis filter clinics will be established in all the 36 districts of Punjab by the end of this year,” he said while addressing the inaugural ceremony. Among other things, Hepatitis is a water-borne disease.
He said that this institute will play a lead role in waging a war against this viral disease particularly hepatitis B and C.
“I am happy to inform you that Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute and Research Centre, the first premier and dedicated medical institute of its kind, is also in the process of being constructed on fast-track,” said the CM.
The Punjab government has embarked on a multi-billion rupee project known as Saaf Pani (potable water) to provide clean drinking water to the people of the province. Providing affordable safe drinking water to all unserved and under-served areas of Punjab phase-wise is the responsibility of the Saaf Pani Company established for the purpose, he said adding on completion, the Saaf Pani project will prove to be a real game-changer in turning the tide against Hepatitis.
He said that Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital Muzaffargarh is being upgraded from 250 beds to 500 beds.
