CM Punjab unveils extension of solar energy program across province

LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif on Monday unveiled the extension of solar energy program across the province.

Reviewing the solar program of Asian Development Bank (ADB) and AFD bank of France in a meeting, he said 15,000 schools of Punjab and University of Bahawalpur will be shifted on solar energy.

“As per solar energy program, 7,000 basic health centres will also be shifted to solar energy,” he said.

The meeting chaired by the CM Punjab also reviewed implementation on the agreement of installation of 100 MW solar energy plant with a famous Turkish energy company, Zorlu.

A Turkish company is constructing a solar power plant of 100 MW in Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park, Bahawalpur. The project will be completed in six months. The Turkish company has also shown interest in setting another plant of 200 MW in the park.
