CM Sindh announces arrest of Amjad Sabri murder, majlis firing suspects

KARACHI: Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah on Monday announced arrest of two people involved in June 22 murder of famed qawwal Amjad Ali Sabri, ARY News reported.

Addressing a media conference, the CM Sindh claimed that Counter Terrorism Department of police arrested Asim alias Capri and Ishaq alias Bobby. Forensic test of weapons recovered from the duo confirmed their involvement in Amjad Sabri’s murder, the recent attack on a majlis (religious gathering) in Nazimabad area of the city, along with a number of other terrorist activities.

The CM claimed that both the suspects belong to outlawed Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) Naeem Bukhari group. Asim Capri is said to be a neighbour of the slain qawwal Amjad Ali Sabri.

Shah maintained that the suspects arrested from Liaquatabad were involved in at least 28 incidents of terrorism including the Oct 29 attack on a majlis in Nazimabad, Oct 17 attack on a majlis, July 26 attack on army personnel in Saddar, June 22 attack on Amjad Sabri, May 21 killing of two traffic constables at Aisha Manzil, April 20 attack on policemen, Dec 2015 attack on military police near Tibet Centre, Nov 20, 2015 attack on Rangers personnel in Ittehad Town, Aug 29, 2015 attack on Supreme Court judge Advocate Syed Hamid Haider in Hassan Square.
