CM Sindh contacts US Consul General, requests early visa for tortured cadet, family

KARACHI: Making certain Muhammad Ahmed, a student of Larkana Cadet College – who was allegedly tortured by the college administration – reach the United States for receiving best medical treatment, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah on Saturday met the US Consul General and requested her to issue visas for the boy and his family as soon as possible.

Grace Shelton, the United States Consul General, vowed to help Ahmed and his family in getting their visas.

During Shah’s meeting with Shelton, Sindh Education Minister Jaam Mehtab, Chief Secretary Rizwan Memon and Secretary Education were also present.

Earlier this week, the provincial chief minister had ordered the Sindh Department of Health to facilitate the victim and his father is getting their passports ready at the earliest.

CM Shah had also asked the provincial Finance Department to issue required funds for meeting medical expenses of the cadet college student.

Local doctors were confident that the treatment of the cadet college student was possible at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Ohio in the US, where a highly competent child specialist would treat him.

Ahmed would take at least three to six months to recover, according to doctors.

His family had claimed that they found Ahmed in an unconscious condition in August but the college administration had been denying he was tortured by any college official.
