CM Sindh extends support to 100-day cleanliness drive in Karachi

KARACHI: Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah on Saturday extended his full support to 100-day cleaning drive kicked off here by Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar yesterday, ARY News reported.

“Mayor Karachi and all the district municipal corporations (DMCs) have my full support for the cleaning drive in the metropolis,” he said during a meeting at Chief Minsiter House today.

Directing to repair University Road within 10 days, he said sadly gutters of the city were overflowing and haphazardly piled garbage mocking at us. The local government departments had funds to execute the cleanliness campaign, hence this issue should not be politicised now, he said.

“Masses do not care if it is a cantonment’s jurisdiction or DMC’s. They have interest only in cleanliness,” he said.

On the other hand, Waseem Akhtar has expressed happiness over the CM’s endorsement and said he was feeling himself stronger than before after the CM’s participation in the campaign.

He admitted that his party could not deliver services to masses in the past and it will take them time to correct years’ mismanagement. He invited all to join the city government in this campaign.

“This time all of us should jointly work with good intention,” he said.

This should be noted that the mayor launched the 100-day cleanliness drive across the megapolis yesterday.
